At the core of our engineering process is the Amity Computation Module of The Flow Consultant™, developed in collaboration with R. W. Miller exclusively for Amity Flow.

Venturi Design: A Comprehensive Engineering Solution

Our engineering solutions are driven by advanced software and meticulous design principles:

  • Integrated Design and Computation: Utilize a single software platform to size and compute all dimensions, streamlining the design process.

  • Custom Solutions: Tailored designs based on fluid mechanics and Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) analysis to meet specific application requirements.

  • Equation Validation: Use MathCad and our proprietary CFD Amity program to develop and validate the Amity Computation Module equations.

  • Versatile Software: The Amity module can be adapted for various meter designs, including Wedge meters, Eccentric Venturis, and more.

  • Accurate Dimension Calculation: Compute all dimensions considering pressure and temperature corrections, as outlined in the Miller Flow Measurement Engineering Handbook (3rd Edition, pg. 9.107-9.117).

Amity Computation Module

The Amity Computation Module calculates pressure and temperature factors in compliance with ASME and ISO standards, using equations detailed in the Flow Measurement Engineering Handbook by R.W. Miller. Designed for forward compatibility, this module accommodates future changes in calibration and standards. It also enables us to efficiently design custom solutions that address specific customer needs while maintaining our high standards for accuracy and reliability.

S-Design

Features a cylindrical radius inlet geometry. The PTC-6 throat section entrance is optimized to ensure the boundary layer development length aligns with PTC-6 theoretical extrapolation requirements. Our S-Design uses the standardized toroidal throat nozzle, with extensive data and CFD studies confirming optimal flow characteristics.

Our collaboration with Dr. Miller and the development of the Amity Computation Module has resulted in the first proven new venturi meter designs in over 30 years. These innovations include:

T-Design

Incorporates a Halmi double cone entrance with unique cone angles and a specially developed throat entrance, based on test results from Holland (Miller, 1989) and further validated by CFD studies.

Our program uses specific line conditions provided by customers—such as temperature, pressure, and fluid properties—to design the most accurate meters for their operational environment, line size, and materials. Each venturi meter design is tailored to the customer’s unique application, with pre-installed fluid and material properties ensuring consistent repeatability.
